About Lightning Baseball
Lightning Baseball of New England is the oldest and most successful AAU baseball organization in the New England and the United States. We recruit the best players ages 13-16 from MA, NH, VT and ME. Our goal is to win a medal at the AAU National Championship and to teach our players how to play the game at the college level.
Recruiting -- To compete at the national level we must recruit players from all over New England. Our competition is not other teams in Massachusetts or even New England. We view our competition as teams from the South and West. We’ll be playing teams that recruit from the entire state of FL, or CA or TX. As a result local town teams are not good enough to be successful at the AAU National level even if they have gone to Williamsport and won the Little League World Series.
Successes -- We are the only program in New England that has finished in the top 10 at an AAU National Championship Tournament more than once. Since 1996 we have had more than a dozen top 10 finishes including three national championships, three 2nd, one 3rd, one fourth, two 6th, two 8th and five 9th.
We have had greater than 20 players drafted since 1999 including three 1st round selections and more than 100 players earn college scholarships since our first player graduated from high school in 1995.
Teaching Philosophy -- We prepare our players to play at the next level whether it’s HS, college or pros. We train them in the proper fundamentals of both individual and team play and we teach at the “college level.” Obviously our younger teams don’t execute as well as our older teams but everyone learns at the college level.
Indoor Training -- Through our association with the Extra Innings Indoor Training Center we offer year round workouts and coaching. Remember our competition (teams the south and West) is playing games while there is still snow on the ground. Our coaching staff has extensive college and pro experience (we have no parents on the coaching staffs). They know what it takes to make you a better player.
Age Levels -- We field AAU teams at age levels 13U –16U. In addition, through our association with Extra Innings we field teams that compete in their fall baseball league.
TPX Top 96 Invitational Baseball Showcase -- We also run the largest and most successful Invitational Clinic in the country. The TPX TOP 96 allows high school juniors and seniors to showcase their skills and take part clinics with in college coaches and pro scouts.
A Program Not a Team -- Lightning Baseball of New England is a program, not a team run. Our goal is to help you be the best player you can and to advance to the highest possible level HS, college, or pros.
We have passed the test of time. Other teams come and go as the players of the parents who started the teams become to old to play. We have been successful for the last 13 years and will continue to be successful for the next ten.
