In only their second year of play, the Lightning Baseball 12 and under team captured 1st place and the gold medal in the New England AAU championship. Through the regular season and the New England tournament the team posted a 23 - 6 record. The Lightning 12U team then went on to compete in Division I of the National AAU tournament in Lakeville, Minnesota.
In the New England tournament the Lightning entered as the #2 seed. During the first two weeks of the three weekend tournament format, the team went 7 - 1 as they began the championship double elimination bracket play. In the final weekend, the Lightning opened with a victory over America Pastimes and next defeated Team New England. In the pivotal contest against Team New England, the Lightning overcame a 7 - 2 deficit to win 8 - 7 with a walk off home run! For the semifinal and final, Lightning faced the South Shore Baseball Club and defeated the Seadogs twice to capture the gold medal.
