Takes Silver in Classic Bracket at 2007 AAU Nationals

14’s Finish with Silver in Classic Bracket of AAU Nationals in Sarasota, FL

After a slow start, the Lightning baseball team advanced to the championship game in the Classic bracket in the 14u national tournament in Sarasota, Florida and took home the silver medal. In initial pool play, the Lightning lost a couple of close games to the Maryland Monarchs, Virginia Mavericks, and Pittsburgh Wildthings. The lightning was able to rebound after being placed in the classic bracket though. After a loss to the Massachusetts Scorpions, the Lightning won their next three games against the Virginia Wildcats, New England Ruffnecks, and the Indiana Bulls which placed them in the classic bracket championship round.

After beating the New England Ruffnecks, the Lightning beat the Indiana Bulls again but came up short in the championship game against the Scorpions. Bryan Church was named an AAU All-American, while catcher Joe Wioncek was strong defensively along with the pitching of Pat Connaughton.
